As per AM 640 in Toronto, Mike Van Ryn has announced that he will undergo knee surgery next Thursday (October 22) to repair an injury that has tuyrned out to be worse than originall thought. Minimum recovery time for the procedure is typically 6 months, making him available in April at the earliest in the event the Leafs were to string together a run into the playoffs.

Contrary to previous reports stating that the injury could be career ending, Van Ryn expressed his belief that he will certainly be playing again. Take it for what you will, be it that this is what the doctors are telling him or a case of a player holding out hope. Either way, best of luck to him for the surgery and recovery.

Let the march of injured Leafs go on...

Cheers!
