Going for the big tri-fecta

Starting the 2-1-0 is good start for a Sens club that nobody seemed to give a chance.

While the wins over Toronto and the John Tavares Islanders weren't the fanciest of victories, but both had two re-acquiring elements to them.

- A Sound defensive game from the net out. Starting with strong performances in net from Pascal Leclaire and a re-emergence of Phillips/A-Train shutdown team.

- Bounces going our way. Not to sound like a broken record, but over the last two-years the Sens have been on the business end of bad calls, so it's nice to finally see the Sens get the breaks other teams had been getting.

In the end a wins a win regardless of how you get. Leaf fans, despite their massive outcry against the Donovan call and their apparent un-realization of what warrants a penalty call, would be defending the calls if it had led to 2 Leaf goals.

The Ottawa Senators Line-up

Forwards:
Michalek - Spezza - Foligno
Kovalev - Fisher - Alfredsson
Cheechoo - Regin - Neil
Ruutu - Kelly - Donovan

Defencemen:
Phillips - Volchenkov
Campoli - Karlsson
Picard - Carkner

Goaltenders:
Elliott

Brian Elliot will make his season debut today, and it will be a good test for the team's mentality. Given our track-record over the last two seasons, it has been evident that the team’s confidence varies from Goalie to Goalie. (See Gerber/Auld)
---------------------------------

Erik Karlsson's family will be in attendance again tonight, this time his little sister will be there, so hopefully Karlsson will continue to shine.

I know there has been a lot of criticism against Erik so far, mainly because he hasn't been producing up to expectations set by some fans and media (it's only been 3 games, nobody cares what you think Pierre) but Erik has been vary poises thus far and has moved the puck better than any other Sens D-men. Obviously Erik has his shortcomings but it's going to come in time.
---------------------------------

Question for the Montreal fans.....When is Kovalev going to show up? We knew he liked to disappear for stretches.

While I'm still not a fan of posting rumours, but with the strong play of Carkner so far, it sounds like "O’Brien to Ottawa" may be dead.

Puck drops at 7pm est. Go Sens Go
