A source tells me that the Leafs and Rangers are talking as well and we could very well see the Leafs step on the gas here for Kessel or turn to a possible deal with Dubinsky.

There are many, many people who are telling me that Dubinsky has been one of the biggest issues in the Heatley trade as the Rangers did not want to give Dubinsky up and the Sens desperately wanted Dubinsky. The Sens also weren't willing to take Rosival...

So if Dubinsky is available now it could be because of Burkes ability to offer sheet him for less than it would cost to offer sheet Kessel.

Some sources are saying that a Kessel trade to the Leafs may be much closer than we think. "Remember that Kessel isn't signed," a source said, "So before any trade is made, the team acquiring Kessel would have to be given some ability to talk and know what exactly it is that Kessel is looking for in terms of dollars and years."

The Sharks are still truly the team to watch here in terms of Heatley, but it has definitely been hard for them to try and make this happen. Push will come to shove here in the next few days...a source added, "The Sharks can make it happen, but it would be a bigger risk than we are accustomed to from Wilson...or most GMs. It would be a major overhaul move that would dump some salary, but also sacrifice some young depth."

also, I should add that the Kessel to NYR or Preds rumors are overblown in my opinion and essentially a counter grab for some more power since Burke grabbed the pick and got a notable advantage.

This afternoon I am doing a RUMOR CHART REFRESH as I will adjust and discuss all the minor (some not so minor) UFAs and the latest that I have heard on them. I will also be blogging on the top 20 UFAs still out there.

Also... Yesterday I wrote about the Sabres possibly inviting Kyle Calder to camp. Calder has already been invited to the Anaheim camp, yet I am still hearing of the Sabres interest. We should note that this kind of thing has happened before...a player can be invited to a camp and then leave that camp and sign with another team. A player in camp on an invite can often showcase his talents to the point where another team gets interest. Since there is no contract, that player is free to leave at any time.
