Ryan Jones signed yesterday, a one-way deal that will pay him almost a million dollars over the next two seasons.

Jones showed flashes in his stint with the Preds last year, I’m one of those who believes he could be an answer on the second line with Legwand and Erat… if he is, that gives the team some leeway in getting Colin Wilson some time in Milwaukee.

Predators 2009 2nd round draft pick Zach Budish has made the exhibition squad for the US National Junior’s Team. The national team has a four game schedule against the Russian Junior team beginning tonight in Lake Placid, NY. Games run through Sunday.

Budish showed well at development camp on July and may make some noise in college this year at Minnesota.

More drama in Chicago… the arrest of Patrick Kane gives Blackhawk fans one more thing to worry about, after the change in GM’s and the Hossa contract controversy fans in the Windy City didn’t need this. Kane’s hearing on this matter is scheduled for August 17th.

I know things like this draw massive attention in the off season due to the lack of hockey to take the focus, but this situation is surfacing some other issues with Kane that are being bandied about on blogs and in the mainstream media.

Chicago fans have to wonder… what’s next?

Theo Fluery wants to return to the NHL at the age of 41? Really? He still has a substance abuse suspension to serve and hasn’t played in the league for 4 seasons.

The battle for the Coyotes continues today as the bankruptcy judge will hear motions from both sides.

The NHL wants Jim Balsillie’s bid thrown out, Balsillie wants a chance to question NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to get specifics on why the Blackberry boss was unanimously rejected as a potential owner.

The arguments on both sides are getting sillier and sillier…
