Predators Development Camp continues today after yesterday’s baseline testing. The first on-ice session is 10am at Centennial Sportsplex. I’ll be blogging (and tweeting) live from the session, we’ll also have pictures from the session up on hockeybuzzradio.com by this afternoon.

---------------------------------

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed RFA Kris Versteeg… with the other RFA’s they have just signed next season’s cap hit is looking, well… interesting… Kane and Toews become RFA’s after this season… I wonder which one the ‘Hawks would be willing to lose?

---------------------------------

Has anyone else noticed that players are expecting to play well into their 40’s now? At least that what their contracts say… Chris Pronger is the latest. Upon signing his new contract, he is committed to the Flyers until he’s 43.

The Flyers continue their pattern of signing players that may be on the other side of their prime for large money. Chris Pronger may be the exception… maybe.

---------------------------------

The Dallas Stars added a solid d-man by signing Jeff Woywitka to a very reasonable $1.3 million contract. I really like the moves that Dallas has made so far.

---------------------------------

The initial release of the pre-season schedule contained an error on the Pred's home games... the correct home schedule is as follows:

Thursday, 9/17 - 7pm - Atlanta
Saturday, 9/19 - 7pm - Columbus (originally listed as Friday)
Saturday, 9/26 - 7pm - Carolina

There will be rookie games this year as well, however they will be in Atlanta on the 14th and 15th of September. The games will be held at the Duluth Ice Forum.

The pre-season schedule ends on Monday 9/28... which may indicate an Oct. 1 start to the regular season. This season will be a so-called "compressed schedule" due to the Vancouver Olympics in February.

You are invited to follow me on Twitter. Search for PredPAPaul… Not only will I be updating when I get news or updates… I’ll also be updating during Pred home games in season with information and explanations from the PA box.

HockeyBuzz Radio is on hiatus until October… we’ll be weighing on conditioning camp and may even put up a podcast or two during the summer. Keep checking in at www.hockeybuzzradio.com for the latest on the upcoming season and regular columns from hockey writer Mark McGee.
