GOOD LUCK!
I am getting a very strong stance from sources on both sides of the Montreal and Tampa situation that tonight the chances of
Vincent Lecavalier has taken a serious hit. Again, the sides talked, and the closest they came was on Friday, but even then both sides seemed to have felt a bit skitterish about what the loss of the players would mean to each side.
There were never any "finalized" deals, just concepts.
Tonight, I reported that a good source had confirmed for me what I had written previously that
Saku Koivu would not be returning to Montreal and would in all likelihood be joining his life-long friend and several times linemate
Teemu Selanne in Anaheim.
The rumors have been out there that neither Kovalev nor Koivu would sign prior to July 1.
Tonight, Mike Gillis is off to Sweden to try and convince the Sedins to stay. The fact that the Sedins went to Sweden and are taking Gillis away from the organization so close to July 1st is UNBELIEVABLY selfish of the Twins in my opinion. It is hurting the Canucks, an organization that leveraged some of their future years ago to get these guys to play together and has put them in a great light ever since.
I am hearing MANY folks who feel that the Sedins are heading to Montreal on July 1 and Vinny is dead "for tonight."
