I apologize in advance for the brevity...It's been a loooong day!!

So, the Frozen Four is finally here! It feels like we've been waiting a month for this weekend to come! Really, it's only been 10 days...I should get a grip! LOL

Here's the scoop...

You can watch the games on ESPN2 Thursday at 5pm and 8:30pm ET.

First up - Miami v. Bemidji State

Still don't know all that much about the Beavers, but the only thing I really need to know is that they beat one of the BEST teams in the country in Notre Dame and one of the best defensive teams in the country in Cornell and won both in convincing fashion. That alone should make you take notice. They've shown that they are VERY well prepared and know their opponents strengths and weaknesses and how to neutralize and capitalize on them. Their real issue coming into this weekend is that EVERYONE will be just as prepared to compete with them and with only one line that can score on a consistant basis, that could be a big problem for Bemidji State.

As I've said many time on the Hockey Buzzcast, the Redhawks are much better than their seeding says. Their quick and creative and have at least true scoring lines with the other two making regular contributions and strong team defense. The real question mark for them is in goal. They've got a two headed monster! Situations like this usually work themselves out earlier in the season, but they've been going back and forth all season long and right now they're just riding the hot hand.

I say Miami wins in a close one to advance to the National Championship game.

In the pime time matchup - and for good reason - BU v. UVM

The Terriers are still the team to beat, but if anyone can do it it's the Catamounts who have already done it twice this season - the only team to do so. Granted it was back in November, but not much has changed for either team. Vermont is one of the most well conditioned teams in college hockey and they use their size and strength to their advantage and wear you down. They're not exactly known for their scoring or defense or goaltending - which are clearly good enough to get this far - but they are known for showing up to the rink ready to go for every single game. Their work ethic is hard to beat.

BUT...if any team can match their work ethic it's the Terriers! They are known for outworking their opponents and always going for the next goal even with a two goal lead. They're quick, skilled, physical, move the puck well and have great goaltending to boot. That said, they've been struggling with putting together a full 60 minute effort and taking undisciplined penalties lately. They've managed to get through because of their talent, but as Herb Brooks said - you can't win on talent alone - and you better believe Jack Parker will be doing everything he can to remind his players of that this weekend.

This one should be a great game to watch with BU advancing to the National Championship game.

I'll be back tomorrow with post game and Hobey thoughts as well as a preview of the National Championship game.

Till then!

Jules
