Could miss rest of the season with a herniated disc. Brewer will undergo surgery tomorrow in St. Louis. He woke up the other day with pain that stretched from his back down to the leg area. Doctors discovered a bulging disc after he went in for an evaluation a few days ago.

As expected Blues forward Cam Paddock cleared waivers on Thursday.

Paddock will remain with the club until either T.J. Oshie or Paul Kariya are ready to return from injury.

The move had to be made because of the upcoming roster freeze which doesn't expire until after Christmas. The Blues can now send Paddock down to Peoria at anytime assuming Oshie or Kariya return before the freeze expires.

Kariya appears to be clser than Oshie as both player skated on Wednesday and were expected to skate today as wel.

I've been told not to expect Kariya to play this weekend.

The timetable for Jay McKee is 4-5 weeks after he fractured his finger this past Tuesday. His injury did require stitches but it does not look like surgery will be necessary.

Ben Bishop will start in goal tonight in Washington.

The Blues will dress seven defenseman including Tyson Strachan and Jonas Junland.

After tonight the club will have eight players who have made thier NHL debut this season.

Cam Janssen will not dress.

Manny Legace skated this morning but is not ready to come off IR. He first will need to receive clearance from the Blues medical staff.

Andy Murray will try to match Barret Jackman and Roman Polak against the Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom line as often as possible.

Murray and Washington bench boss Bruce Boudreau have a friendship that goes back several years. Boudreau was the head coach for the Kings AHL affilliate in Manchester for many years when Murray was coaching the Kings.

Another reminder that my radio show Blues Buzz will broadcast live from Johnny Mac's sporting goods on Friday from 5-6. I will have a Blues player to be named in store as my guest. The show can also be heard on AM 1380 or www.team130.net
