Just a quick hit...
Fedor Fedorov's tenure with the NJ Devils is over.
lamoriello has given his agent permission to seek a trade and the Devils will accomodate that.
Purely a number thing, the Devils feel their top 12 forwards are set and are granting Fedor the courtesy to seek employment elsewhere as per their original agreement. If there are no takers it will be tough as Lou indicated he will not play for New Jersey. Waivers may be the next option.
I was cheering for Fedor to stick, as he didnt play bad he did not stand out of the crowd and finds himself in this situation. I am hoping teams out there like the Kings, for example, take a gamble on his reasonable 500k salary for a year.

Devils at the Coliseum tonight for a tilt vs the Islanders. Expect Marty in goal the entire game.

The Devils have informally sent players to Lowell for practice but will officially make cuts after Saturday's pre season game. More later.

Food for thought...
I want to congratulate Roberto Luongo on being named Captain of the Vancouver Canucks, a first in the modern day NHL.
I have always been of the thought that goalies should/could/will be named Captains of their hockey teams. Ive been ahead of the curve as I have named Brodeur Captain of all my fantasy hockey teams!

Brodeur has always been a leader for the New Jersye Devils and management has given thought of naming Marty as the Captain. I think he knows and not interested in having the "C" formally added.
How can you not respect a guy who will be the best goalie ever when it is all said and done??!!

NHL, please get rid of the silly rule of not allowing a letter on a goalie's jersey!
I think we are lucky to have a fine core of goalies in the NHL today, Id venture to say probably the best collection of goalies the NHL has seen playing at once. A few names come to mind as goalies that could bear the "C" on their chest; Luongo and Marty obviously, Ryan Miller, Henrik Lundquist and Marty Turco.
