As I am getting back into the swing of things, I would like to thank the people that sent kind e-mails throughout the summer and look forward to writing about New Jersey Devils hockey throughout the season.

Well, preseason can be funny. It is a great way to observe young talent and see how new players can help contribute to the team for upcoming season. But in the end, the victories and losses do not count.

While entering the Prudential Center, I noticed that the arena is a little different and more decorated than last year. The food selection was great as usual and it was good to see hockey is back.

Zach Parise had two goals and Jamie Langenbrunner added a power play goal to help give the Devils the victory. The Parise-Zajac-Langenbrunner line was put back together and saw significant ice time.

After observing Fedor Fedorov, he showed some hustle. He needs to show some consistency in that department if he wants to get any significant ice time with the big club. My thoughts are he has good size and speed. He needs to use his size more in order to become more effective.

As for the Rangers, they seem to be a quicker team than last year. I think this is a good team that fits Tom Renney's coaching style. Their work ethic was good and positioned themselves well.
