A 48 hour Sundin Window? Updated 1:38

Information is very sketchy right now...but I shutter to say that according to this agent, who reps several other Swedish players, Sundin may very well be "on the clock."

"We are hearing that two teams have 48 hours and that time may have started at noon today. The two teams are somewhat surprising as well. One is Vancouver, the other is "in the Central Division."

According to the source, although he believes these latest deadlines may have been put into place by the teams, that is "Not a certainty." It is possible that Mats has given these teams some "new and relevant guidelines."

I will stay on it throughout the night and the next 30+ hours...and almost certainly beyond.

1:38: We all heard Gainey say that the Habs had moved beyond Sundin, right? well according to a few sources there are definite signs that the Canadiens have indeed let it be known that they are still on the "to call" list if things change.

When I asked a source if that meant at some point later in the season he said, "At any time. The Habs will be contacted at any time Sundin's decision comes down."
more to come..

Another killer day outside...Hockey is in the air!

There is a trend I have noticed in each of the last three camps. The young kids coming in are getting better each year and the vets are really in a fight for their lives. It is a serious battle for many of the tried and true, which is why many of the unsigned vets have fled to Russia.

As one bubble vet said to me last night, "Thank God for one-way contracts, these kids can all fly like the wind!"

Anyway, many have asked me what pre-season games will be televised since there does not seem to be a definitive schedule anywhere..

Tonight's Rangers/Ottawa game is televised on MSG and Sportsnet in Canada, but AMAZINGLY tonight's Penguins/ Lightning game, full of subplots and future stars isn't on TV at all.

Tomorrow night Buffalo and Toronto will be on Sportsnet in Canada. and Monday night Buffalo Montreal game is on RDS (rumour is) and the Rangers/Tampa is on MSG.

Thanks to the NHL Network for sending me their pre-season schedule:

NHLN Live Pre-Season Schedule
1. Sep 23 @ 7pm ET – Buffalo at Montreal (Roberval, QC – Kraft Hockeyville Game)
2. Sept 27 @ 1pm ET – Carolina at Philadelphia (last NHL game at the Spectrum)
3. Sept 30 @ 12pm ET – NY Rangers vs SC Bern
4. Sept 30 @ 7:30pm ET – Detroit at Montreal
5. Oct 1 @ 1:30pm ET – NY Rangers vs Metallurg (Victoria Cup)
6. Oct 5 @ 5pm ET – Buffalo at Detroit

So who is going to a pre-season game?

Notes...Make sure you check out Brad Ratgen's blogs. Brad is in North Dakota with the Wild at training camp and doing an outstanding job reporting back from that fine facility.

Reader teaser...

Some major and awesome news and changes are coming to Hockeybuzz. Look for a podcast in the near future where I will be giving a state of the union pres conference that wil be covered live on the site....no hints....

Tomorrow will be PREDICTION Sunday where you can win prizes.

2008 Fantasy Hockey Draft Guide

Cheatsheets, player rankings, downloading projections and everyhting else you'll need to win the HockeyBuzz SuperLeague. Get it today for only $14.99

In case you missed it:

As the HBSL enters its fourth season we've decided to make some exciting changes to improve what was already the best fantasy hockey game out there.

Everyone can Sign Up!

You no longer have to be a HockeyBuzz Season Ticket Holder to participate in the HBSL, but there's a catch. Because we appreciate the support that Season Ticket Holders have provided since HockeyBuzz first launched, only STH's will be eligible for the grand prize of an HDTV.

At the end of the regular season, Season Ticket Holders will be put into a bracket to compete for the grand prize while everyone else will be placed into a bracket for a chance to win a customized NHL jersey from IceJerseys.com. Plus you'll get to brag to all your friends that you outplayed hundreds of hockey fans in the best fantasy hockey game in the world. The ladies will really be impressed by that.

League Play

In the past we've generated random match-ups at the start of each week. This season we're going to split everyone up into 18-24 team leagues at the start of the season. You'll know your schedule and your league opponents from the start of the season. To make things more interesting, we're going to group everyone based on their favorite NHL team. Each league will place one team in both the STH Playoff Bracket and the Free Playoff Bracket, with the remaining playoff spots being filled with wild-cards.

Goalie Shutouts

While it's not the most significant change to the game, we've gotten a lot of requests in the past to include shutouts in the scoring. Shutouts will be worth 10 points, so make sure you invest some money into your goaltenders.

Salary Cap Hits

Since we first launched the HBSL in 2005 the goal was to make the game as much like building an NHL team as possible. With the addition of Cap Central to HockeyBuzz we now have the data to use salary cap hits rather than player salaries.

Good Luck!

With Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin past their entry level contracts and the change to salary cap hits, there's not a lot of cheap talent out there. The rosters should be a lot more diverse this year which should make for a challenging season.

Want to call me? You can. I have already spoken directly to many of you and had some great hockey talks

My phone number is 213-985 BUZZ (2899)

You can leave me messages for anything Hockeybuzz related. Ask me to come on your radio show, ask a question for Julie and me to answer during the buzzcast, ask a question regarding a rumour...or just say "Hi."

I will tell you that I won't always be answering the phone from numbers that are unfamiliar, although there will be certain times that I will answer. (I may also announce those times)

I can't guarantee to call back everyone, but I will try to call back as many people as possible...I am also working on a way to play some questions and answer them in the blog.

If this becomes popular I may make this number toll free.
