The BlogFather Steps Up: Isles To Get More Coverage with Chris Botta |

One of the biggest issues facing Isles fans was the lack of coverage. Despite all those local papers, only Newsday has a full-time beat writer on the case. That would be Greg Logan, who has been solid in his work.
Now we have two, with Chris Botta coming Point Blank, literally. Islanders Point Blank.
His blog Debuts on September 25th. Despite that the New York Islanders will be a primary sponsor of a new blog, it will be run independently with opinion pieces, breaking news reports, rumors, rankings and feature stories that are not subject to any corporate editing or filter. In other words, the Isles have zero say on what is written.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for the fans to receive in-depth, nearly around the clock coverage of the team. Chris Botta will provide the fans with a perspective and insight that they've never had before. Hopefully this develops similar arrangements with other highly qualified journalists throughout the league."
- Islanders President Chris Dey
“The goal of Point Blank is to provide constant coverage and honest analysis of the Islanders from an original perspective. Having worked for the team for so long, I have a lengthy list of contacts around the NHL and I have so many stories to share. I hope to inform and entertain hockey fans, and there will be plenty of opportunities for them to get involved on the blog.”
- Chris Botta
This is a big deal for Isles fans. Botta, even before this, was all over the Nolan/Snow schism, the Brandon Sugden saga and Doug Weight signing. He has already shown an ability to break news and shake the Isles landscape. Now he gets to do it 24/7.
