Even if you do not support the new Continental Hockey League, you may want to take a look at some games from the league, which began regular season play today.

Russian national television sports channel "Sport" has obtained exclusive rights to broadcast games from the KHL on Russian television and via free-of-charge webcasts on the internet all season. The games are being shown live, but also appear to be set for archived online viewing after their completion.

There are three games online today from the new league's debut. The webcasts work outside Russia:

Salavat Yulaev 4 - Lokomotiv Yaroslavl 1

Spoiler: Alexander Radulov assisted on an Oleg Tverdovsky powerplay goal for his lone point in his first official game with Salavat Yulaev.

Amur Khabarovsk - Dinamo Riga

Spartak Moscow - Atlant Mytischy

In another sign that hockey season is upon us, a number of Flyers players are working out in informal pre-camp training sessions at the SkateZone in Voorhees, NJ.

Today, Tuesday September 2, was the first large Pond Hockey session for the Flyers/Phantoms/Prospects players at the Flyers Training Facility in Voorhees NJ.

Among the players in attendance are Simon Gagne, Daniel Briere, Jeff Carter, Kimmo Timonen, Braydon Coburn, Ossi Väänänen, Lasse Kukkonen and Ryan Parent.

Unrestricted free agent Jim Dowd, a member of the team in 2007-08, is also there.

Flyers defense prospect Joonas Lehtivuori has been selected to play for Finland's senior national team for a two-game series against Team Sweden this weekend.

Lehtivuori, who is coming off a tremendous preseason for Ilves Tampere (nine points in nine games including three goals) will be making his senior-level international debut. He played each of the last two years at the World Junior Championships.
