Talking to multiple sources regarding the Edm/Mont deal..
"It (the rumoured Mont/Edm deal) is most definitely tied to Sundin as the player that I am hearing leaving Montreal is a young center."
"I have heard that Edmonton is also talking to the the NJ Devils and Boston Bruins...but neither would involve the caliber of player that could be leaving to go to Montreal. Both NJ and Boston have interest in a D-man, where Montreal is looking at a forward."

There are reports today that Gaborik could be considering offers from a Russian team following this coming season. See Brad Ratgen's article below. My sources are telling me that this is NOT likely at all and in fact Gaborik himself has no such desire.
In fact I have even heard a rumour this morning that the Ottawa Senators have been quietly working on a potential "MEGA" deal that would land Gaborik.
All that being said, what is interesting is that the KHL is gaining some momentum right now as an alternative to the NHL for the HIGH END guys and the Aging low enders...The money overseas and the need to make a huge early splash combined with the NHL salary cap is certainly causing some interesting speculation and is being used as leverage in negotiations..
BTW, you should check out Bill Meltzer's blog regarding a potential Nordic League. For my money Bill is the best European Hockey guy writing in North America. His connections are ridiculous and he is always WAY out in front here.
On McCabe....
A source today told me for the first time "on the record" that the Panthers are "EXTREMELY SERIOUS BIDDERS" in the McCabe sweeps. "There is no question that McCabe is headed to Florida." according to my source.
