Quick Antoine Vermette Update(updated at 945am)

I am not one to write one or two paragraph blogs but today could be that type of day. With the arbitration hearing less than an hour away for RFA Antoine Vermette, it seems both sides don't want to budge much in their negotiations. Sens GM Bryan Murray is willing to give Vermette a 2 year deal and it's believed to be in the 2.5 million range per season.

Meanwhile, the agent for Vermette, Allan Walsh seems poised to get a large settlement at the hearing on a one year deal and then test the free agent waters next summer. If that were to occur, expect Murray to deal Vermette as he doesn't want to lose him for nothing next summer.

What I find odd in the contract negotiations for Vermette is that he is the one player who has never complained or whined and has always been for a good TEAM guy. Yet, he finds himself struggling to get what he feels he is worth from management. We will find out the arbitrator's ruling within 48 hours if this hearing takes place at 10am. Now alot can change in a hurry and you have to expect that both sides will make their final pitches in the last hour this morning. I will do my best to update throughout the day but I am in the process of moving.

****Vermette gets signed to a 2 year deal worth 5.525 million.****(updated at 945am)
Back later with thoughts after I contact Vermette's agent on the process of the deal that went down this morning.

As posted in my last blog by one of our readers, here is a link for the possible third jersey for the Sens. Thoughts?
