Interesting how a one source story has gotten the legs that it has...

The Alexander Radulov rumor/story has been bubbling for about a day and a half now... there are very few facts that are known... here's what I do know...

> Radulov does have a valid, enforceable contract with the Nashville Predators through the end of the 08-09 season.

> Russia, the IIHF and the NHL have an agreement to honor each others contracts. this does include the new Continental League (KHL) considering that the agreement was brokered by the KHL's founder, Alexander Medvedev, I find it hard to believe that he will allow this to happen.

That should do it... however the speculation continues...

There's a few other things that may enter into the disussion. I think everyone could agree that Alexander Radulov is a talented player. I also think everyone could agree that Rads is a tad immature, you need to look no further than the game 3 incident with Jason Arnott for confirmation. Should this rumor/story turn out to be true, it would be another testament to his immaturity.

You wonder if this is a negotiating strategy by Radulov's agent? He is going into the final year of his entry level contract and Rads makes no secret about his belief in his monetary worth to the team. Perhaps a little impatience mixed in with his immaturity?

Someone very close to me happens to be in St. Petersburg, Russia right now... a review of the media there has revealed the story as well (from the same one source)... the article there read like Radulov would honor the last year of his Nashville contract. Just one more nugget to add on the pile...

I guess I keep the Kovalev story from last year in the back of my mind... The silence from 501 Broadway is a bit deafening... I guess I wonder if we should be surprised by this... jumping at shadows is never a good strategy.
