UPDATED 12:15

Two sources have confirmed for me that the Maple Leafs are ABSOLUTELY 100% still talking to and hoping to sign Mats Sundin.

Also a s few sources are saying a Hossa decision has been made...One team may have been said no thanks...

more to come.I am in the chatroom
+++++++++
from earlier

It sounds like the Hossa decision is coming in the next two hours.

Here are the players and what I am hearing.

On Hossa...

Montreal- They are still very much looking at Sundin and at some point this morning Gainey may face a real gut check moment. Word has been for a while now that Hossa would not mind playing in Montreal at all. In fact he wants to play there I have heard. After Plan A Sundin and Plan B Hossa possible plan C, Huselius, Bertuzzi, Avery, and , maybe even Orpik

Edmonton- The most money looks to be coming out of Northern Alberta. Although I do believe the rumoured figures may indeed be inflated, I have zero doubt that the entire reason Hossa has waited until today was the Oilers offer was too respectable to rush to judgement. Plan B is making an unreal pitch for Jagr.

Pittsburgh- I am hearing all sorts of things out of Pittsburgh including the facts about how unbelievably close Hossa came to re-signing 16 days ago. The Penguins are in on Hossa still, but today the Jagr train is DEFINITELY in town on the rumour mill...Even the most respected sources. I believe the Penguins will get one of Hossa or Jagr.

Boston-Once the favorite, then out of it, then the overwhelming favorite, then indifference...now Boston has settled into a contender for Hossa...But an outside one.

Detroit-Word is the Red Wings are putting an interesting proposal of a high paying one or two year deal on the table. This way Hossa can go and try to win a Cup, then in two years get the going rate of $20 million per. (sarcastic take on rising salaries)

Minnesota-"Could quietly sweep in and steal this"

On Sundin..

He was definitely wowed by Vancouver. That is common knowledge. AND WHO WOULDN'T BE?

I have heard from three sources that Mats may wait and visit Vancouver this week. If he does that he may narrow his choices since the Rangers and Canadiens may no risk getting shutout of signing other players and the money may not be there for Mats.

UPDATE**A SOURCE JUST INFORMED ME THAT MATS WILL RETURN BUT NO DECISION AS TO WHERE...Of course, this is just source and as we have learned with Mats no one really knows what Mats is thinking except Mats...and things can change.

Brian Campbell's Classy Move..."

I just got the Campbell Story, and this is NOT rumour, this is FACT.

It really came down to Atlanta and Chicago. The deals were very comparable. Brian sat down with his family to decide. He chose Chicago, but out of respect he did something that is NEVER done, and should be.

When a team puts all that money on the table it is a huge compliment. It is a big deal, even if they don't spend it, for a team to make an offer that is that huge, What usually happens is the agent will call the teams that aren't chosen to inform you, if you are lucky.

Brian Campbell personally called the Thrashers and thanked them. A small gesture maybe, but it goes a long way.

I will be in the chatroom from this point forward..
