Blake Wheeler is somewhat baffling to me. Is there a better fit for this kid than Phoenix? And yet he has decided that he will only play in the East. (Why not for the Wild where he grew up and played college hockey?)

A few teams, well more than a few teams have interest in Wheeler, but the teams I am hearing most often connected to Wheeler are Toronto and Buffalo...

Robbie Shremp, another fine American kid from down the road in Syracuse, may indeed be on the market and word has it that the Senators and Sabres both are said to have STRONG interest in Robbie. The kid is a highlight film.

SO what's the deal?

The Thrashers have the two perfect people in their system already.

John Anderson has won 5 championships. Kevin Cheveldayoff is a rising young GM that came VERY close to getting the Phoenix spot last year....and yet I am hearing more and that John Tortorella, who I must admit I targetted for LA, is going to be the next coach of the Thrashers...

I like Torts, but this really baffles me.

from yesterday...

Some quick hits and more on the way...

A source this morning said that the Leafs may be gearing up a huge offer that would include 2 #1 picks for Vinny LeCavalier. It is no secret that the Leafs have made pitches before...the bigger question is would Vincent rather wait and head to Montreal as a UFA or sign a lifetime deal in Tampa.

Another source today confirmed that the Canadiens are "out and away" the leading candidate for Hossa....according to this source, "I would put Hossa at at least 80% on your RUMOUR CHART." And I have...

One team that is going to be more active than in past years (which wont take a lot to be) will be the Dallas Stars. The latest person they are interested in is Brian Campbell. A source added, "The Stars need more scoring upfront, but with Norrstrom's retirirement they need some puck moving help as well."

According to multiple sources a Ryan Suter deal could be announced shortly and is indeed "COMPLETELY FINISHED." On source however has told me that Suter AND Weber deals may be announced together this week.

Patrick Marleau is the "most likely star to be traded by July 1" if you ask the experts. I am not so sure....However there is a rumour that comes via two players in Boston that are telling me they are hearing that tha Bruins are working on a deal for Patrick Marleau.

Reports that Rolston is likely to re-sign in Minnesota are nothing new to hockeybuzz readers and listeners to the Podcast...We have been beating that drum for a month.
