Ball of Confusion

The Nashville Predators find themselves in an 0-2 hole after another frustrating loss at the Joe. You have to give full credit to Mike Babcock, the basketball style timeout he called in the second after the Preds tied the game with two goals in 11 seconds and then hit two posts... was right on time... and just what his team needed. An fortutious bounce off Greg Zanon's skate, and the momentum was gone.

Give the Preds credit... the giveaways were much reduced. Their energy was better... but the top two lines are still struggling. The number one line combined for 2 shots, one each from Arnott and Dumont. Erat had 2, Radulov 5. Scoring chances were better, but you got the feeling the Preds were aiming the puck a bit too much, not converting on multiple chances with large spaces of net wide open.

This Predator team just can't seem to buy a break... untimely injuries, bad officiating (can anyone get a freakin' offside call right?), a goal waived under VERY questionable circumstances, weird bounces going both ways, hitting more iron that a blacksmith.

The hockey gods have given to get the Preds into the playoffs... and now the bill has come due... with a vengance.

The series travels to Nashville for games 3 and 4. Monday's face off is at 6:30pm... I'll be leading a Pred Nation pep rally on the plaza in front of the main entrance at 5:15pm, right before the doors open... Come on out and we'll get crazy!!!

Steve Sullivan has joined the blogosphere... he's really doing some neat stuff on the Preds website with some very interesting insight.

Very interesting to hear David Poile comment of the officiating. It's nice to see him and Coach Trotz step up and tell it like it is.

Two consecutive games where the officials have gotten in the way of the game. I was upset at the waive off of the Radulov goal... more upset at the blown offsides call on Detroit's third goal... Perhaps we need to have a Hockey 101 for these linesmen...

Again... the Preds need to overcome these types of things... however you do begin to wonder...
