Thoughts and prayers to Richard Zednik and his family in his time of need. God speed, Richard.

At this hour, Richard Zednik is in surgery in Buffalo.
Panthers Assistant GM, Randy Sexton, and the team trainer are with Zednik at hospital.
The team has chartered a plane to deliver Zednik's wife to Buffalo to be with her husband at Buffalo General Hospital.

Game MVPs: The Sabres and Panthers Medical staff and training staffs, respectively. Quick, decisive action helps Zednik in his moment of need.
The Sabres team doctors stopped Zednik's bleeding and he was able to be transported to hospital.

#12 has the flu. Healthy scratch. Vokoun sits. Anderson in. The Buffalo Rochester Amerk guys know Anderson well, having played with him.

Great 1st shift for Buffalo. Tim Connolly had Craig Anderson leaning and he missed an open net.

29-19-9 is a very interesting line combo; Roy kisses left iron with a snappy one timer.
I like 26-19-9 as well-- they are putting pressure on the Florida D down low.

Ryan Miller proclaimed this game and all to follow between now and April 5th a "Playoff game". For the Sabres, the Playoffs start now.
They cannot afford to cough up points tonight.

Spoke with a friend who is close the Islanders. Mike Comrie may be available for the right price. Buffalo fans recall Comrie's act the opening weekend of the season, right?
With Connolly's hip creating Britney-like drama in Buffalo, the Sabres may want to place a call and inquire.

Here are some tasty scouting tidbits to consider as you prepare for the Sabres and Panthers tonight:
*The Panthers scored six times last night in Boston--- 4 of the unanswered. They have 18 goals in their last three games, and 24 in their last 5 games since they lost to Buffalo 1-0, on January 30.
*They are getting great goaltending from Tomas Vokoun.
* A win tonight will give the Panthers a piece of first place in the South Least divsion. They are tied with the Washington Caps (57 points)who play the Rangers today. Les Thrash and The Canes are off tonight.
* The Panthers have won 4 of their last 5 games.
* The Panthers have 7 Powerplay goals in the past three games. 7 in 3 games!
* Olli Jokinen has goals in 4 straight games. I've heard some people in Buffalo say that Jokinen is not the kind of player Buffalo needs right now. To that, I say give your head a shake!
* Sabre Killer, Richard Zednik, has been setting up Jokinen and scoring on his own.
