The Ottawa Senators get back to action tonight when they visit the NY Islanders. One thing is certain, Martin Gerber will be the starting goaltender tonight after Ray Emery yet again put himself ahead of the team. His act has grown old and now is the time to get rid of the sideshow known as Ray Emery. Maybe he thinks he is Dennis Rodman, the former NBA star who marched to the beat of his own drum.

It makes you wonder if he is trying to buy his ticket out town? Does he want really want to be in Ottawa? It's known in hockey circles that Emery is an outcast and has very few friends on the team. All you have to do is listen to a few of the leaders on this Senators team and it's not difficult to figure out that he is not well liked. Maybe after his Vegas vacation getaway he did some thinking and though to himself that he wasn't happy in Ottawa, so what better way to get yourself traded then by doing what you have been told NOT to do in the past, show up late for practice.

I have received numerous e-mails from Sens fans saying if not for the defensive system in front of him he would not have received the contract he got this past summer. So why would you alienate yourself on a team that helped you achieve the contract you received this past summer. Emery will not post the same type of numbers he posted last season on most NHL teams. Fans are tired of his act and so are the players. Ottawa plays harder in front of Gerber and tonight that point will be proven once again.

If Emery is part of the Ottawa Senators after the trade deadline, his sideshow will cause further problems and this is the last thing the team needs come playoff time. When the entire team has a meeting with Emery and he still pulls the kind of stunt it goes to show you how SELFISH he is. He doesn't CARE about the team otherwise he would stop putting himself ahead of the team.

So if you are GM Bryan Murray, what do you do? Suspend him? Try to trade him immediately for lower than his market value? Lets hear it Sens fans!!

Sens rumours - I have been talking with various sources over the last 24 hours and the as many as 5 teams have been on the phone trying to get a deal done with a variety of players. The one deal that has been looked at is with Ottawa sending Joe Corvo and Ray Emery to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Dan Boyle and Vinny Prospal.

There have been a few names mentioned on possible trades out West as well but I am still trying to get one or two sources to confirm the names. Brendan Bell's name has come up as a possible player being moved to Ottawa. He is stuck in a numbers game out in Phoenix and if Ottawa trades Corvo, Bell is a good pucking moving defensemen and an Ottawa boy as well.

I will have an in-game blog going tonight with trade rumour updates so be sure to join the discussion at 7PM EST.
