*****************Breaking News*******************

The Caps have been dealt a large blow today. When will this team catch a break?

I have just learned that Michael Nylander is on his way to Cleveland for surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. The severity of the injury is so bad that Nylander could no longer play through the pain.

Nylander has been the embodiment of "team" over the last month as he has played through the pain. The rehab for the surgery will take 6 months, so by removing himself from the lineup now, Michael will be able to be fully recovered for the beginning of next season.

I will bring you more updates very soon.

UPDATE @ 12:20

* as per confirmation of Tarik El-Bashir of the Washington Post, Nylander is scheduled to have surgery and is out.

George McPhee will address the media soon.

I will update more when there is more to update. As well, I am working up a piece on Nyls and a preview for tonight's showdown with the Sens.
