Greetings from an Airplane. Taking the family on the annual jaunt to Longboat Key, Florida. I usually get a ton of work done on airplanes. No email, no phone calls, no IM’s. That’s when I fly alone…However, air travel with two young ones is a different animal.
There is nothing like the relaxation of the last 72 hours. Preparing for Christmas AND a five day trip with a family of four all at once that leaves at 6:20 am…It was all so very calming…
It is a workout though. Five bags packed to the gills, 2 car seats stroller, various laptops, ipods, oh yeh, and a jogging stroller…My in-laws and sister in-law are fortunately waiting in Longboat at the other end after we take the hour plus drive from Tampa to Longboat.
But who am I to be complaining? Seriously, to be alive and healthy and able to do this means we are truly blessed.
And the blog goes on!
So tomorrow ends the trade freeze, and means we are now in January. The Month Before the deadline…The Panic Month!
Time to look ahead. I will be throwing all sorts of numbers at you over the next two months. Here are two key numbers that we can use to judge the landscape.
The first number I will give you is the Hockeybuzz Trade Index. This number takes into account the cap space that is available for the teams currently in the playoffs, the amount of games they have left to play (since it becomes easier and easier to take on money as the season progresses), and the lead they have on the rest of the non-playoff teams (since this can give you an indication as to when teams will start selling off.)
I will give you the index and how much it has changed since the last time I gave it. This will help see trends, so although this first number may not be all that exciting, it will get better with each passing day..
The Hockeybuzz Trade Index for December 26, 2007 is: 19.07
The next number will compare the amount of cap space available to teams in and out of the playoffs. We will call this the Hockeybuzz Buyer/Seller Index…
The Hockeybuzz Buzz Buyer/Seller Index for December 26, 2007 is: 38.14 (More Cap Space Available For the Non-Playoff teams right now)
